5 And what isn't determined by our genes is mostly determined by our aunconscious,
6 bWhich is obsessed with sex and violence and possessions,
7 Just the way we always knew it was anyway,
8 If we ever thought about what we think about.
9 And even if there is some part of us that isn't determined by our genes or our unconscious,
10 cThe environment determines everything else,
11 And our environment is the human environment,
12 dWhich is obsessed with killing and possessions and sex,
13 And so there's nothing we can do.
CHAPTER 231 But that's why it's so great that we have epsychology,
2 Which teaches us about all the things that control us,
3 Which we can't control,
4 And so we don't have to feel any more guilt about anything,
5 Because it's not our fault,
6 And we're not responsible,
7 For anything.
CHAPTER 241 Modern fphilosophy has been a big help too,
2 Because it has finally determined that we can't be sure about anything at all,
3 Including whether or not there's anything out there,
4 gExcept ourselves,
5 Which means the burden of proof is on the universe to convince us that it is there,
|
|
6 Including other people,
7 Which it just can't do,
8 hBecause science show us that it doesn't work that way.
9 In the past this caused a lot of iconsternation,
10 Because it made existence seem like some big, insane trap,
11 jWhich you can't escape from,
12 No matter what,
13 Until you kdie.
14 And while that is the truth,
15 It is not really such bad news,
16 If you happen to be living in the richest and most powerful lChosen Nation in the whole history of Mankind,
17 Even if it's practically a certainty that it's also going to be the mlast Chosen Nation in the whole history of Mankind.
CHAPTER 251 If you've been following me up to now,
2 And it doesn't really matter if you haven't,
3 Which I'll explain later,
4 I can sum it all up for you pretty neatly this way.
5 nThere isn't any God,
6 At least any God we would recognize as one,
7 oWhich means there isn't any good and evil either,
8 pWhich means that it's okay for Man to be the way he is already,
9 Without a lot of changes,
10 Unless he had a really good chance to survive a lot longer,
11 Which he doesn't anymore,
12 Thanks to qnuclear weapons and rhuman nature and all the slessons of history,
